What is the Pre-Service Program???

Pre-Service Program
The Pre-Service Program is available for those individuals who desire training before seeking employment in law enforcement. Successful completion of the training enables individuals to become candidates for P.O.S.T. certification.

Currently, the Basic Law Enforcement course is between ten to twelve weeks. Classes meet eight hours per day, five days per week for a total of 404 to 444 hours. The cost for pre-service applicants varies, however, most applicants are eligible to receive the HOPE Scholarship. 

The current cost to attend the Pre-Service Program averages around $2,580. PLUS $75 POST application, $175 for a polygraph and background investigation, $175 for psychological, $7 for driver's history and $15 for criminal history.  (Information courtesy of North Central Police Academy)

Completing the Program - To complete the program students must maintain good grades and succeed at several performance tests (firearms, CPR, vehicle stops, Emergency Vehicle Operation, judgmental pistol simulation, etc.).
