About the creator of this site

Hey folks, My name is Randall Burns and I am the creator of GaPoliceJobs.com. I am 26yrs old, born and raised in Niagara Falls, NY. I have been in law enforcement for 5 years. I started my career in law enforcement with the U.S. Customs Service as a Customs Inspector in the Port of Buffalo, NY and worked there for 2 years. I loved my job duties at Customs, but I have always dreamed of being a Police Officer. So I began applying to Police Agencies all over the United States. 

I applied to the City of Forest Park Police Department in Clayton County, GA. The recruiter told me to come down and the entire hiring process would take 3 days. I went through the whole process (IE, interviews, CVSA, Background Exams, Entrance Exams to the academy, etc) 

On September 10th, 2003 I was offered the position and had 10 days to move from New York to Georgia. I began the academy on September 28th, 2003 and graduated Dec 12th, 2003. I worked the streets of Forest Park as a Patrol Officer for two years. 

On December 20th, 2005 I left Forest Park to work for a City Police Department in Coweta County, GA which was closer to my home and offered better "perks" such as better pay, better benefits, and a take-home car. I am currently a shift supervisor on Morning Watch(7PM-7AM) and love every second of it!!!

UPDATE: November 29th, 2006 - I have recently been promoted to K-9 Handler!!! I will be attending a 8 week K-9 Academy in February 2007... Wish me luck (I feel like a rookie all over again!) 

UPDATE: April 19th, 2007 - I completed my 8 weeks of K-9 training with my Dutch Shepherd named "ARIS".
